During the Fall of 2009 and throughout 2010, we will examine the intersecting issues of faith, science, technology and the environment. We also will take a slight detour and head back to childhood stories to re-examine some fundamental lessons of life and faith.

The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss

Written by theologian and retired Methodist pastor, James Kemp, The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss offers scriptural reflection and inspiration based on some of the best loved children’s literature. Members of the Education Ministry will explore the pearls and pitfalls of human behavior when we forget God’s grace as so well illustrated by these stories.

2009 commemorated the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of On the Origin of Species, the book that prompted an ongoing debate between biblical literalism and the theory of evolution. The two-part series also coincides with the release of the new movie on Darwin's discoveries and dilemmas, Creation. Jim Harrer will lead a lively discussion on "God After Darwin."
